Playing Catch Up!

Ok! I think its safe to say its been too long since I've gotten my decorating ideas off my mind, and kept up to date with all of the wonderful changes in our 'Minty Green Dream'. Two whole years in fact!

The Entry, transitional space at the stair wells and the family room has been painted, and decor added and I have to say I really do love how the whole thing has come out so far (Its always a work in progress right?!)

We decided to paint something BOLD! (And by we I mean I, Brett was reluctant of course!) We went with Fairy Tale Blue by Benjamin Moore, accenting with Gentle Violet and Golden Nugget (both also BM colours).

The result was a little bit overwhelming at first but as soon as we started adding pictures, and things to the mantle everything really started coming together! We painted out the old oak mantle with a bright white (Chantilly Lace by BM is my favourite!) and re-tiled around the fireplace with a golden yellow 1x1 tile. Absolutely love this colour combination! Then I started started adding some whites, blues, purples & golden yellows. I painted our existing curtain rods purple, since its hard to find them and also much more cost effective then buying them that way. I used the Krylon paint & primer because honestly it has never steered be wrong in a DIY! Finally we hung some fabulous orange sheers (I love Home Sense!) and I am in the midst of recovering some new pillows for the sofas!

In the entry we added a built in bench that doubles as a boot box for Eastons mittens, hats and shoes. We painted the box and wall behind it the purple colour and added purple crown moulding to the top to really make it feel like a built in unit. Then we hung my DIY pallet art, another great Home Sense find with some birds & wildflowers, a cool Ikea print. We changed out one of the million 'boob' lights to a super nice frosted fixture, and upgraded the door (although still unpainted on the inside, oh the decisions!) Throw in some new pillows and we call it done, for now! Hehehe
